I finally have a Reel To Reel I’m happy with (Teac A3300SX) and I have already collected some goodies and I hope to find more goodies from the Omaha NE, area and beyond! Thanks for the comments! I'm ...Hi, Oldradios,

Thanks for the comments! I'm glad you (and hopefully others) are still enjoying the Marigail material, and the podcast I was on. I'm going to be on that show again this year!

In answer to your question, I do come across 15" per second tapes fairly regularly, perhaps 1 or 2 percent of the tapes I buy have material at that speed, although that is a guess.

On the other hand, I have only once come across a tape recorded at 15/16th ips, and did not know it was even a speed before I came across that tape, which contained recordings of middle-of-the-night talk show broadcasts, mostly about conspiracy theories, I believe. One lengthy segment was with a leading JFK conspiracy theorist from about 1970.

By chance - and this is weird - I came across that very tape on Saturday, first time I've looked at it in years, while I was digging around for the older material I made reference to at the top of this post.

I also once found a couple of tapes which were made on those ridiculously slow moving machines that you sometimes see on spy shows or in the background of radio stations, and they were monitor recordings of several days' broadcast at some station. I tried slowing them down with software to hear the material, but the sound quality was abysmal. I would have to guess that those tapes were recorded at below one inch every ten seconds.

BobBob Pursehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00595178670595128341noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3253281712354769447.post-77347600424025644322021-04-18T18:00:30.994-07:002021-04-18T18:00:30.994-07:00By the way, how often do you ever come across tape...By the way, how often do you ever come across tapes in the speeds of the professional 15ips or the super slow 15/16ips available one some recorders?Oldradios90https://www.blogger.com/profile/09449189891843735809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3253281712354769447.post-47672281626522716632021-04-18T17:55:05.889-07:002021-04-18T17:55:05.889-07:00Hello Mr. Purse I listened to this podcast you wer...Hello Mr. Purse I listened to this podcast you were on a couple of years ago. (I liked it so much I recorded it to Reel to Reel) The Merigail Moreland material was wonderful.
